This blog is dedicated to promoting ideas and resources for doing the most good and the least harm to ourselves, other people, animals and the environment. I call this principle MOGO, short for most good, and I welcome your comments and suggestions for how we can create a world in which the MOGO principle guides all people, governments, and businesses.

The better mogo choice is paper books. The trees used are from SFI(Sustained Forestry Initiative) sources which are crop grown using responsible methods primarily in N. America. Old growth forests are not used. They are grown as crops like corn and beans and more trees are planted daily than harvested. Books are then manufactured primarily in North America(especially 1 and 2 color books) and support thousands of American workers. An e-book is an Asian manufactured product that is shipped into our country. It is does not have to be subject to the USA's environmental standards and does not benefit nearly as many American workers. Also, there are studies which show that the carbon footprint of a paperbook is LOWER than an e-book. The choice to use paper books is an organic one. It is the equivalent of a whole food. It feels good in the hand and is easy on the eyes. It is a renewable resource that can be reused(shared) and then recycled. It will not contribute to the huge percentage of toxins in the landfill that are the result of tech waste. The choice of paper seems more sound. Hundreds of years of product testing and satisfaction has shown the paper book to be the mogo choice.
